The start of his Apprenticeship

It's 2016 now.
We've been members of our golf club for a few months and we're still spending half days working and half days golfing.
The club is looking for an apprentice greenkeeper. It's a job that Laurance has wanted to do since he was 5 years old.
Laurance grew up on the 14th at Bexley Golf Club. Every morning while having breakfast or getting ready for school, he would watch the greenkeepers start their day mowing rough, fairways, greens and all of the million other little things that greenkeepers do.
He applied for the job in March 2016. The then Manager of the club gave the job to someone else.
The guy they hired didn't last very long...neither did the manager.
The new manager hired Laurance as a labourer on the course working 2-3 days a week. He was doing everything a greenkeeper does plus more. He was the mechanic, the maintenance guy and labour on the course.
About a month or so after being hired as a labourer, Laurance was offered the apprenticeship.
We talked about it long and hard and I pushed for him to take the apprenticeship.
With the mower repair business, things got really quiet over winter and it made making ends meet very difficult. At least this way, we had a steady income coming in. We kept the mower repair business going on the side for a while.
So here he is now, at the age of 42, starting an apprenticeship.
From day 1, he's loved it. The first few months of his apprenticeship are working strictly on the course.
We still find ourselves on the course 7 days a week. Doesn't matter if it's him working, us playing or me doing committee stuff.
We've found our happy place.
