Taking up Golf

Here we are now in 2015. I've had to go back to Toronto after getting married because I'm still dealing with this stupid car accident that completely F&CKED my life up.
I made it back to Australia just before hubby's birthday in August. I've booked my trip to be here for 3 months.
Hubby and I had talked about maybe taking up golf.
My only experience with golf was mini putting or Monkey Golf. What is Monkey Golf you may ask...well, Monkey Golf is drunken mixed foursomes using only a putter and one iron. When I say drunken, I really mean you're so drunk by the time you reach the first green, most of us were crawling or at the very least staggering (and I don't mean our looks).
So, when hubby and I talked about taking up golf, I had to laugh. The next thing I knew, showing up at our door was a set of golf clubs each complete with bags (cheap old Palm Springs sets) and golf shoes.
Off to Big W we went to get some golf balls.
We had a look around at all the local courses and decided that Wentworth Falls was the one we wanted to try for my first real game of golf (if you can call it that).
We hired a golf cart and off we went. My everything hurt from swinging too hard, hitting the ground on almost every shot and from laughing. Hubby on the other hand didn't have too bad a round. You see, he played golf many moons ago and this was the first time he'd swung a club in about 20 years.
After our round, we talked to the girl in the Pro Shop and she told us about the Try Before You Buy deal the club had on. That was 6 weeks membership for $66. We were sold. How else am I going to know if I like this game and want to keep these clubs right?
My parents arrived at the end of August for a 7 week visit. It was dad's first time back in Australia since 1977 and mom's first time here.
We picked them up from the airport and they stayed with us for a few days before we took them to down the South Coast to my uncle's place in Flinders.
We had our own business so it was great that we could make our own hours...that meant that we worked half days every day and spent the other half of the day on the golf course. I was hooked. I played like shit, but I didn't care. I was out there and I was having fun.
We spent almost every day out on the golf course. The only times we weren't on the course was when my parents were with us of while down the South Coast for my cousins weekend.
Here we are now, the weekend of my cousin's wedding. We're at my uncle's place and the house is jam packed with people.
Something told me to check my email while I was there and I'm so glad I did.
I had an email waiting for me from my lawyer back in Toronto. The insurance FINALLY wants to settle my case.
It was a ridiculous low ball offer, but I wanted this to be done and over with. It's been 5 years since the accident and this meant that one more trip back to Toronto and I could start my life where I belonged...in Australia.
I accepted the offer and my lawyer got started on the final paper work.
We got home after my cousin's wedding and I immediately filed my application for permanent residency and booked my one way return ticket to come home for good.
We crammed as much golf as we could into my last few weeks here before I had to head back to Toronto in November to finalise the law suit and get my babies ready for travel.
We joined the golf club as full members before I left.
I've had my babies since they were each 3 months old. They needed a lot of paperwork before I could send them on their journey to meet me back here in Australia to live in our new home.
Bear is now 18 (as of 3 April 2020) and Princess will be 14 (on 1 July 2020).
I flew back to Toronto early November. Finalised my law suit, got my babies ready for travel and had one last weekend in Toronto with family and friends.
I have been living in Australia permanently now since 14 December 2015.
