He's no longer an Apprentice

Back in September 2019, we found out that Laurance's apprenticeship was over. That he didn't have 6 months left like we had thought.

He's a fully qualified Greenkeeper!

I often go to work with Laurance early on a Saturday morning. It seems to be the only time I take photos these days.

I have over the last 3 years, documented his journey of following his childhood dream.

Life has been far from easy for us since he started his apprenticeship. We've had illnesses, injuries, death and more to deal with.

The thought of giving up never once crossed his mind and I'm glad it didn't. I've watched him go from wondering why he started an apprenticeship again at the age of 42 to becoming a fully qualified greenkeeper and taking pride and joy in everything that he does.

Even while we're out playing a game of golf, he's never really off the clock. A stake or hoop are out of place, he fixes them. We've been out early on a Sunday for a hit and have come across a sprinkler being stuck on from overnight causing some minor flooding. He's taken care of it. He could easily have called his boss, Chris to take care of it, but he was there so did it.

It never matters where we go for a hit, he's always looking at the conditions of the fairway, the greens, tees and practice areas. Taking photos for his own notes of different diseases he's come across in a green, or a different weed on a fairway.

He loves what he does and that's all that matters to me.

He's worked hard for this qualification and he's earned it. I couldn't be more proud of him for all of his hard work and accomplishments.
